Introduction to Regular/Double 8mm Filmmaking: In PersonNOTE: This workshop is in person. Following Ontario’s health guidelines, attendees will require proof of vaccination in order to attend this workshop.Regular/Double 8mm is related to but different than both 16mm and super 8. Here you'll understand how, and shoot/process/project this unique-format film in a day. Black and white film will be shot by the group using various, simple, cameras. Together we'll process the film in the darkroom (learning what negative and reversal processing are and how they affect the resulting image from the same shot). Thirdly we'll use both a 16mm and a Regular 8mm projector to screen the film, learning how projection choice affects the effect of the movie. Participants will take away an experience of analogue motion picture making that can only come by using this least common of formats, which contrary to digital immediacy comes with hope, anxiety and anticipation: the latent image. Regular 8mm Filmmaking Intensive Workshop includes: Regular 8mm Camera Workshop (the film that goes around twice!) Regular 8mm Fomapan R100 (black and white reversal) Use of Darkroom for Processing Chemistry for Processing Screening of Completed Films Completed Analogue Film LIFT’s Camera Theory workshop is a prerequisite for the Regular 8mm Filmmaking workshop.
