Mastering LOG for Film Production

This four-hour workshop provides filmmakers and production professionals with a clear, practical understanding of what LOG is, why it’s used, and when it’s the right choice. Participants will explore the differences between LOG, RAW, and Rec.709 workflows, comparing image data, flexibility, exposure latitude, and post-production implications. Through visual examples and real-world scenarios, the workshop demystifies how each format fits into modern production pipelines and how to select the best option based on creative goals, budget and delivery requirements.

The workshop then focuses on properly exposing LOG footage using professional tools, emphasizing accuracy over guesswork. Participants will learn to use waveforms, zebras, false color, and grey card references to achieve consistent, reliable exposure across different camera systems. Monitoring LOG with LUTs, protecting highlights, and understanding how on-set exposure decisions affect post-production will be reinforced through practical demonstrations, giving attendees the confidence to shoot LOG correctly and efficiently in real-world settings.

The Camera Theory workshop is strongly recommended as a prerequisite. This course is recommended as a companion to the Colour Theory, DIT (Diigital Imaging) and Digital Colour Grading with DaVinci Resolve workshops.
