Developing Pitch Packages

Pitching a film project requires a well-crafted pitch package that highlights the essence of the story, its potential, and the unique qualities that set it apart. Many creative — producers, directors, writers, composers and designers — have to pitch and often they’re not natural sales people.

This workshop gives you more than a pep talk; filmmakers will learn how to clearly write and develop their pitch packages to get maximum attention. Learn what is expected in an initial proposal submission; writing an effective logline, synopsis and biography; designing a striking treatment; as well as perfecting an elevator pitch. For the second class, each student will present and pitch a package for a film / story either in development or completed, and receive constructive in-class feedback from the group and the instructor.

A good pitch isn’t going to beat a great idea—but a good pitch often prevents your idea from dying and can green light a great idea. With these elements in place and practice you’ll have a comprehensive pitch package that effectively communicates your film project’s vision and potential.
