Digital Imaging Intensive (DIT): 2 Days

NOTE: It is recommended that participants wear a mask for all in-person workshops.

As the art of cinematography continues to evolve, modern camera systems require dedicated professionals to manage their digital information. A digital imaging technician (DIT) is ultimately responsible for all the data-driven workflows from camera, recording, transferring media with data integrity, to consulting with the director of photography to realize their vision in a digital production environment. In this workshop, an experienced DIT will teach you: how to handle digital files on-set, the beginning of colour science and light theory, a one light scenario, and the essentials of backing up. Students will see a demonstration of working with different camera files with the DaVinci Resolve software, as well as learn about digital media frame sizes, resolutions, and codecs when preparing files for post-production.

Computer knowledge (Mac preferred) is absolutely necessary along with an understanding of algorithmic thinking. The Camera Theory workshop is strongly recommended as a prerequisite. This course is recommended as a companion to the Cinematography Fundamentals, Lighting Fundamentals, Colour Theory and Digital Colour Grading with DaVinci Resolve workshops.
