Voice Over Techniques

NOTE: It is recommended that participants wear a mask for all in-person workshops.

Step inside the world of voice over. Whether you are new to the industry or a seasoned pro, this workshop will cover all aspects of the voice over industry. Learn how to narrate your film, master the commercial read and how to voice characters in animation. Learn proper voice over techniques, ways to quickly hone in on important elements of a script, recording studio procedures, voice over demos, agents, marketing, home studios and more.

The Introduction to Independent Filmmaking workshop is strongly recommended as a prerequisite. This workshop is recommended as a companion to the Short Film Writing, Advanced Script Studio, Directing Dramatic Film, Introduction to Post-Production Sound for Filmmakers and Producers, Introduction to Sound Editing ProTools and Sound Design with Pro Tool workshops.​

Instructor: Marie (Brandi) Ward

Marie Ward (aka Brandi) has been working as a voice actor for nearly three decades. Her expertise has been shared in voice workshops at the Liaison of Independent Film Makers, as a Master Class teacher for graduates at Western Connecticut University Theatre program, the Instructor Liaison at the accredited voice over institution On The Mic and in private coachings.  In addition to her extensive film credits, she has worked on hundreds of commercial campaigns, in animated series, has been the voice of two television networks, played title roles in video games, voiced countless narration projects and voiced numerous PSAs. One of her proudest campaigns is the groundbreaking Signal for Help that literally helped save the lives of women living with domestic violence during the isolation of the pandemic. Proof that using your voice can have a huge impact.
