This 8-week course in documentary production took participants through the post-production stages of directing and editing a short biographical documentary. This course was the
second of a two-part course in documentary production, Portraits of
Extraordinary Minds I with Heather Frise.
During this course, participants continued their instruction in documentary best practices, sound and picture editing techniques, transcription and story editing, writing and developing a stylistic signature.

 

The completed films will be screened as part of the 20th Rendezvous with Madness Film Festival in 2012.

James Buffin is a documentary filmmaker based in Toronto, Canada. As well as working as a producer, director and cinematographer, he also regularly writes articles for POV Magazine and is a board member of the Documentary Organization of Canada, Toronto Chapter.  James has a degree in Film Production and Screenwriting (York University, 1990) and is alumni of the Canadian Film Centre (TV Drama Programme, 1997). For 23 years he has been actively working in a variety of roles on feature films, television shows, commercials, music videos and documentaries across Canada and in New Zealand.
