Arri SRII 16mm Camera

Explore the unique aesthetic of 16mm filmmaking in this intensive one-evening workshop, offering a high-quality alternative to 35mm without the associated bulk and expense. You will receive hands-on training with LIFT's ARRI SRII 16mm film camera, mastering its operation and familiarizing yourself with essential features and accessories, including magazines, lenses, follow-focus and matte box before shooting. The session will also delve into key cinematic concepts specific to the 16mm format, such as different aspect ratios, depth of field, dynamic exposure, and range of latitude, with supporting examples screened throughout. This workshop is the perfect starting point to discover the comprehensive production and post-production tools, techniques, and facilities available at LIFT for your next creative project.

Instructor: Robin Riad

Robin Riad is an experimental filmmaker, film programmer, and visual artist. Robin works with analogue mediums, and enjoys exploring the materiality of film in her work. She has screened across Canada and around the globe.
