Animating Analogue: In Person

NOTE: This workshop is in person. It is recommended that participants wear a mask while on the premises.

Over the course of the four sessions in this workshop participants will gain experience in various styles of analogue animation on 16mm film. In the first session we will be learning in-camera animation using a Bolex camera, intervalometer and matt box. In the second session we will be exploring the art of film collaging. In the third session we will be experimenting with direct animation, including using markers, inks, scratching, etc. to create abstract images on film. In the third session participants will learn how to use LIFT’s Oxberry Animation stand. We will also be learning how to process the films we make using these four different styles of animation.

Previous experience with animation not required.
