The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is an artist-run charitable organization dedicated to facilitating excellence in the moving image through media arts education and production resources. LIFT exists to provide support and encouragement for independent filmmakers and artists through affordable access to production, post-production and exhibition equipment; professional and creative development; workshops and courses; commissioning and exhibitions; artist-residencies; and a variety of other services. Founded in 1981 by a small collective, LIFT has since grown to become one of the foremost centres of its kind globally. https://lift.ca

LIFT is dedicated to making filmmaking and film education affordable for everyone. Our Education Department is currently looking to add to our roster of contract instructors for year-round seasonal, private and community workshops in the following areas:

– Blender
– Camera Theory
– Cinematography Fundamentals
– Developing a Television Series
– Film Distribution
– Intimacy Coordination for Film and Television
– Lighting Fundamentals
– Location Sound Recording
– Multi Platform Storytelling
– Producing Documentary Films
– Producing Dramatic Films
– Production Management
– Starting a Production Company
– Voice Over Techniques

Workshops are typically three to four (3-4) or six to eight (6-8) hours long and can take place on one (1) or two (2) evenings or all day on a weekend. Workshop attendance ranges from four (4) participants up to a maximum of twelve (12).

LIFT is also open to new workshop suggestions from potential instructors.  The Education Consultant can work with you to develop a curriculum. These teaching positions are a perfect fit for filmmakers who are looking to give back to the community and nurture emerging talent with the support of LIFT’s resources and facilities.

Eligibility:
– Must have experience in the field they are submitting to teach in (list experience in résumé or curriculum vitae)
– Must be 18 years of age or older
– Does not have to be a current LIFT member to apply as a contract instructor
