Feisty, provocative and very irreverent, Karen Walton has become one of Canada’s most sought-after screenwriters. After being nominated for a Gemini for writing the CBC teen drama STRAIGHT UP and penning the internationally acclaimed teen angst horror film GINGER SNAPS, Karen was labeled one of the Top Ten Writers to Watch by Variety Magazine. She has written for the TV series THE ELEVENTH HOUR, QUEER AS FOLK, WHAT IT’S LIKE BEING ALONE, and is currently working on a total of 8 feature screenplays. She is a writing force to be reckoned with.

THE BRIDGE by Lindsey Connell

 

A con man struggles to teach his cynical daughter some truths about living on her tenth birthday.

 

An accomplished writer and actor, LINDSEY CONNELL‘s sketch comedy has been featured in Tim Sim’s productions and the Improv Olympics in Los Angeles. A recipient of a Toronto Arts Council Grant for her short story writing, Lindsey is presently writing a feature film, SHADOWS AND THE MAN and is also developing an original series, FATALE with Katya Gardner and Kirstin Hinton about the underground world of assassins.

 

GIRL, YOU’LL ME A WOMAN SOON by Jill Riley

 

When Mikaela finally gets her first period, she and her precocious younger sister Samantha embark on their planned documentary masterpiece. GIRL, YOU’LL BE A WOMAN SOON is a short comedy about the importance of expressing oneself despite the irritation of family and biology.

 

JILL RILEY has worked as a producer for the acclaimed short films MILKMAN, ECSTASY and AUTOEROTICA and as a director on WITH WINGS and THE HARD FACTS OF A ROCK N ROLL CRUSH. These days when she isn’t changing diapers, she’s in post production on her newest short THE PRINCESS OF SELKIRK AVENUE.

 

Take part in LIFT OUT LOUD where members workshop their scripts to by professional actors and then get feedback from the audience of their peers. We are looking for scripts for upcoming readings.
