March Reading of LIFT OUT LOUD

Take part in the LIFT writer’s series where members workshop their scripts to by professional Actors and then get feedback from the audience of their peers.

This month’s LIFT OUT LOUD series taking place on Wednesday March 3rd at 7pm in the Mezzanine features two short scripts; a musical by Nick Cushing and a comedy by Jeff Larkin.

FALLEN FROM GRACELAND By Nick Cushing

Fallen From Graceland concerns the adventures of three female alien geneticists and their sentient computer who visit Planet Earth in 1957, to collect DNA samples, including the DNA of a young human singer who catches the fancy of their junior geneticist. Continuing their voyage to the outer reaches of the galaxy, they grow a clone of the singer and study him until an unfortunate combination of overly rich diet and excess medication cause his premature demise.

Author, songwriter Nick E. Cushing started writing in 1988. His work includes radio plays, The Snickersons & Richly Disturbed, a musical Fallen From Graceland, a screenplay, Attack Of The Correctoids, and a sci-fi television pilot, Lost In Storage. Films include the short features The Left Coast, Getting Goofy, and his just released, Cow The Moovie. His musical endeavors began in 1993 when he wrote the songs for Fallen From Graceland with the help of entertainer Charles Fox. Building on that experience he’s written scores for his films and various songs including Suzy Snake which he made into a video in 2002. This year he will be making a video of his song Digging Up Disco.

TICKET TO LETTERMAN by Jeff Larkin

You’re a cop. You pull over a couple of guys for speeding. Just another routine traffic vio-WAIT. They’re shooting a video for who? David Letterman? THE David Letterman? As in World Wide Pants Incorporated David Letterman? Okay, straighten your tie, put on your hat, and a bit of local charm. And if you’re partner tries to steal your spotlight. BURN HIM! (Ticket to Letterman is based on a true story.)

Jeff Larkin has a BA in Theatre from Queen’s, and an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from NYU. He’s written and produced a number of shows for the Fringe Festival. He’s presently rewriting his first feature screenplay, and developing a second. Ticket to Letterman is his first foray into short film.

We are looking for scripts for upcoming readings.
