BAICC International Artist Residency Program with LIFT, (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico and Acción Cultural Española-AC/E

Call for Applications:
BAICC International Artist Residency Program

From June 29 until August 27, 2017, applications to take part in an artist residency in Toronto (Canada) can be submitted by creators born or living in Spain, willing to create works in analogic film format. The duration of the residence will be between 4 and 6 uninterrupted weeks between October 2017 and April 2018. All the information about the process is available in the regulations and application form.

BAICC is part of an initiative of (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico in partnership with the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) and Acción Cultural Española-AC/E.

From the beginning, the Mostra has done a resolute work of promotion, diffusion and vindication of analog cinema, being a unique space in the Spanish context. In this sense, the idea of opening new paths in this direction has been there almost from the first edition of the Mostra. A line of work that finally found its correspondence in the collaboration with a unique institution in the world, which offers an incredible support to analog cinema, to the aesthetic exploration still to be done in this field, and to the fruitful coexistence between the digital technologies and the photochemical formats. We are talking about LIFT, the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto, institution that has a long trajectory welcoming artists in residency that work in this medium (artists like Naomi Uman, Helga Fanderl, Tomonari Nishikawa and Martha Colburn have been there).

AC/E a state agency for the promotion of culture, fosters the Spanish creative and cultural sectors through a broad program of activities, fostering the internationalisation of creative professionals, with initiatives such as artist residencies. Projects supported by AC/E underline the diverse Spanish contribution to the global culture, as well as recent contributions of Spanish talent in the main creative fields.
