CANADIAN MEDIA SKILLS EXCHANGE CONFERENCE
May 22 – 26, 2025 in Toronto, Canada

Toronto, April 16, 2025—The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is excited to announce that we will be hosting a gathering of national analogue-based artist-run centres and media technicians here in Toronto, Canada, taking place May 22-26,2025. The conference is a 4-day workshop intensive, covering analogue film equipment maintenance, handling and repair. These workshops are tailored for younger/emerging technicians in analogue-based media arts centres looking to expand their knowledge to support their respective arts communities. As this equipment ages and technicians enter the workforce, our intention with this conference is to ensure that this equipment can continue to be maintained and used by arts communities across Canada. LIFT will act as a meeting point where these essential skills are exchanged between technicians of various backgrounds, national connections are made, and the future of analogue equipment is protected for a while longer.

The Canadian Media Skills Exchange Conference will include various programs, including workshops, discussions, and demonstration sessions. Registered participants are welcome to attend any workshop, and the conference has been designed so that every participant can attend every workshop.

This conference is only open to media arts technicians or members designated to attend on behalf of an invited media arts organization.
