LIFT SYRIAN YOUTH FILMMENTOR
August 28, 2016—The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is pleased to announce the call for applications for Syrian Youth Filmmentor. LIFT will be offering a series of workshops for six young Syrian newcomers to learn the craft of filmmaking. These workshops will offer step-by-step guidance through the process of making a short film. All course will be offered in Arabic.
Digital filmmaking workshops will run for eight consecutive Saturdays through October 8, 2016 to November 26, 2016 at LIFT facilities. Topics include: Introduction to Filmmaking, Short Film Writing, Directing, Cinematography, and Editing. Each participant will have the opportunity to make their own short film.
Eligibility Criteria:
– Must be 15 to 19 years of age (by application date)
– Must be a Syrian Refugee
– Must live in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), within commuting distance from the city in order to access LIFT workshops and equipment
– Must be available for all Saturday afternoon workshops from October 8 through to November 26, 2016
* We encourage applicants who have not had previous training in film or extensive experience working with the medium to apply.

2. Statement of Interest:
a) One-page written introduction to yourself and why you are interested in filmmaking and your experience with the arts.
OR
b) A short cell phone video. Make a short video (up to 2 minutes maximum) using your cell phone. Introduce yourself in English or Arabic, and tell us why you are interested in learning about film and a little about your experience with the arts. Be creative!
Short listed candidates will be invited to do a short in person interview with LIFT staff the week of September 20, 2016. The function of the interview will be to get to know the candidate and discuss their interest in filmmaking.

LIFT تسعد أن تعلن عن الدعوة لتقديم الطلبات لبرنامج “فلم منتر” للشباب اللاجئين من سورية.
LIFT سوف تقدم سلسلة من ورش العمل لست أشخاص القادمين الجدد لتعلم حرفة صناعة الأفلام. وهذه الورش تقدم إرشادات خطوة بخطوة طريقة صنع فيلم قصير في نهاية البرنامج.
جميع الفصول ستقدم باللغة العربية.
الفصول ستبدأ في أكتوبر ٨، ٢٠١٦ إلى نوفمبر ٢٦، ٢٠١٦، إسبوعياً كل يوم سبت في مكتب LIFT.
البرنامج يشمل المواضيع التالية: مبادئ صنع الأفلام، إخرج، تصوير، و مونتاج. كل طالب سيحصل على فرصة لإخراج فيلم قصير خلال البرنامج.
للتأهيل، من اللازم:
– أن يكون الطالب بين ١٥ – ١٩ عاماً
– لاجئ سوري
– في تورنتو (GTA)، في امكن للوصول ليا مكتب LIFT بسهولة
– عن تكون متاح في كل يوم سبت لحضور البرنامج من أكتوبر ٨، ٢٠١٦ إلى نوفمبر ٢٦، ٢٠١٦
*نشجع المتقدمين الذين لم يحصلوا على التدريب السابق في ألتصوير أو خبرة واسعة في العمل لتطبيق.

سيدعى المرشحين لحضور مقابلة قصيرة مع موظفين LIFT، في أسبوع ٢٠ سبتمبر ٢٠١٦. المقابلة ستكون للتعرف على المرشح ومناقشة اهتمامه في صناعة الأفلام.
