On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am delighted to announce that the new Executive Director of LIFT is Chris Kennedy.
Kennedy is an independent filmmaker, film programmer, writer and teacher based in Toronto. He programmed for the Images Festival from 2003-06 and Pleasure Dome from 2000-06. He co-founded and co-programs Early Monthly Segments and programs TIFF Cinematheque’s The Free Screen. His short experimental films have screened at over one hundred film festivals worldwide and have been featured in solo shows at the Canadian Film Institute, Los Angeles Film Forum, Nam June Paik Art Center and the Pacific Film Archive. He has presented the work of others in Belgium, Egypt, Germany, the U.S. and Canada. He holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, where he was co-founder and host of a weekly film salon.
In addition to being a long time member of LIFT himself, Kennedy is well known and respected both locally and beyond for his films and videos, his teaching, and his work as a programmer. We are confident that the comprehensive set of skills that Kennedy brings to the job of Executive Director, will serve the organization well, allowing him to develop and build upon the great work that our outgoing Executive Director, Ben Donoghue accomplished during his tenure at LIFT.
We would like to invite you to a cocktail celebration to welcome Chris, and to bid a fond au revoir to Ben who will be relocating to Montréal later this month. The reception will take place at the LIFT on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 7pm to 9pm. We look forward to seeing you.
