Open Studio Session – Dark and Light

OPEN STUDIO SESSION:

DARK AND LIGHT

June 14, 2024— Summer is here! To celebrate the season the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is pleased to announce that we will be welcoming artists to our space for an Open Studio Session. The Open Studio Session will serve as a space for exploration for artists and creatives interested in various aspects of filmmaking. This is an opportunity for members and non-members alike to create together outside or in LIFT’s spaces.

The theme for this session is Dark and Light, referring to either darkroom experimentation or working with sunlight.

For the duration of the session LIFT’s Darkroom, Loading Bay, and Main Classroom will be open to participants. Participants are encouraged, but not required to create within the theme and are free to use their time in the studio however they please. We ask that each participant be mindful of others and share the spaces throughout the session.

The session will be facilitated by artist Eva Kolcze on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm.

Note: This is not a workshop therefore, there will be no formal instruction. The facilitator will be available to answer questions and guide participants, but not to teach a specific curriculum.

Facilitator:
Eva Kolcze is a Toronto-based artist who creates films and installations that investigate themes of geology, architecture, and the environment. Her work has screened at venues and festivals, including the National Gallery of Canada, Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), MOCA Toronto, the Gardiner Museum, Nuit Blanche, Cinémathèque québécoise, Birch Contemporary, and the Images Festival. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University and a Master of Fine Arts from York University. https://www.evakolcze.com

Participants are required to bring the following items:
