THE LIAISON OF INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS OF TORONTO (LIFT)
ANNOUNCES ONTARIO TOURING FILMMAKING WORKSHOPS

Toronto, February 19, 2015—The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is pleased to announce that over the next three years we will be partnering with media arts centers throughout Ontario to tour 14 filmmaking workshops. Building on the successful production training in Toronto, LIFT is working closely with partner organizations across Ontario to design workshops that will expand knowledge of the local talent base of each community, encouraging them to continue to work in the field. The workshops will deliver a full breadth of experience for independent filmmakers, ranging from introductory classes in dramatic and documentary filmmaking; in depth courses on directing, producing, writing and grant writing; to technical intensives in animation, editing and cinematography.

This winter season marks the launch of the program and will start with six workshops in the communities of Belleville with Downtown DocFest, London with the London Ontario Media Arts Association (LOMAA), and North Bay with the Near North Mobile Media Lab (N2M2L). Workshops will be taught by Ontario-based independent filmmakers and a select number of workshops will include a screening in the community to showcase their work. Instructors include Igor Drljača, Tess Girard, Sarah Goodman, Philip Hoffman and Noé Rodriguez.

The touring program is generously supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
