Harmony Movement: Change Through Equity

Working
with LIFT instructors, Harmony Movement organized editing workshops
over the summer in and around Crescent Town, Rexdale and Jane/Finch. In
an intensive program, youth worked with a facilitator to create visual

Change Through Equity
Change
through Equity will bring youth from diverse backgrounds together using
film-making/digital storytelling as a social development tool to
inspire youth to develop their own solutions for change in their
neighbourhoods. This film documentation will be showcased at the end of
the program and shared with the local community offering an opportunity
to facilitate discussions on the marginalization that many cultural
youth face on a day to day basis.  At the end of the showcase,
participants will be presented with certificates to acknowledge their
commitment and leadership in promoting diversity and creating social
change in their neighbourhoods.

Harmony Movement
Harmony
Movement was formed in 1994 as a not-for-profit organization to combat
inter-racial intolerance and to confront the “us versus them” attitude
which was prevalent in Canadian society at that time. Our mandate is to
promote diversity and to combat all forms of discrimination that act as
social and cultural barriers to individuals’ full participation in
society. We empower youth to become leaders for social change by
implementing diversity education in schools and communities.
