GUEST MODERATOR – REBECCA SCHECHTER
REBECCA SCHECHTER’S career as a screenwriter took off in 1987 with the feature film “Taking Care”. Since then, she has written primarily for the small screen. She has been producer, story editor and/or writer on many of Canada’s drama series: Street Legal, ENG, North of 60 (for which she won the 1994 Gemini for Writing in Dramatic Series), Side Effects, Riverdale, and Blue Murder. In 2005, she began working on her first half-hour comedy called “Pray for Me” about a group of Muslims living in a small prairie town. In addition to re-shaping the series and working as Creative Producer on the first season, she re-christened the show LITTLE MOSQUE ON THE PRAIRE. Ms. Schechter is currently developing an hour-long dramatic series for Can-West Global. She is also President of the Writers Guild of Canada, a position she’s held since 2004.

PETER SCOTT VICAIRE is a member of Listuguj First Nation, and received his bachelors degree from the University of New Brunswick before entering the United States Marines and becoming a sergeant. After an honorable discharge, he worked in juvenile corrections for 8 years. He began screenwriting in 2004 and has been nominated and won screenplay of the month on Kevin Spacey’s popular screenwriting website – Triggerstreet.

LIFT OUT LOUD is our bi-monthly script reading series where members workshop their scripts to by professional actors and then get feedback from the acclaimed guest moderator and an audience of their peers. LIFT OUT LOUD meets bi-monthly on the first Wednesday of every other month.
