LIFT OUT LOUD is a very popular bi-monthly screenplay reading series that is run entirely by volunteer members of the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT). It provides a forum for LIFT screenwriters to hear their script read aloud by professional actors and receive feedback by an audience of fellow writers, actors and filmmakers.

Each session is moderated by an industry professi onal. Past moderators have included filmmakers Bruce McDonald, (Highway 61, Hard Core Logo), David Weaver (Century Hotel, Siblings), Clement Virgo (Lie With Me, Poor Boys Game), Vincenzo Natali (Cube, Cypher), acclaimed screenwriters Karen Walton (Gingersnaps, Queer as Folk), Semi Chellas (Eleventh Hour, Life Before This), Denis McGrath (The Border, Republic of Doyle), Tassie Cameron (Flashpoint), Kevin White (Corner Gas, This Hour Has 22 Minutes), Canadian Film Center story editor Maureen Dorey-Lukie, and actor, director and writer Don McKellar (Last Night, 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould).
