This workshop provides practical information to the independent filmmaker on running an organized and efficient production as an Assistant Director (AD). The assistant director is the most important job on set. Not only is he or she responsible for setting the tone of the crew, the 1st AD also creates the schedule and communicates with all departments to ensure that everyone is on the same page so that the production stays on track and comes in on schedule. Learn to breakdown a script and create an efficient schedule and all of the documents that go along with it. Learn the roles of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and trainee assistant directors, how to direct background action, how to efficiently run the floor and much more.

Instructor:

Over the last ten years Matthew Gorman has worked in the film and television industries in Toronto, primarily as an Assistant Director. In that time he has worked on a variety of productions including music videos and commercials, corporate and industrial videos, television series, short and feature length films. No matter the size of the budget or the crew Matthew always runs the floor with a positive attitude, doing whatever it takes to make the day.
