St. Alban's: The Shift

The Shift worked at LIFT to give their youth participants an understanding of editing on Final Cut Pro and hands on learning with the software.  With the help of LIFT facilities, the youth learned quickly and worked diligently to create the first cut of their own documentary they had shot the previous week. Working at individual Final Cut workstations at LIFT in 3 hours, they reduced 6 hours of footage down to 35 minutes. Their work can be seen here. The Shift is looking forward to being back at LIFT in the summer with another youth project.

The Shift

The SHIFT is a Youth Film and Media initiative that explores various art forms as tools of self-expression and social justice. The program consists of weekly hands-on workshops led by award winning artists/activists from different disciplines. Together we will decipher the power of our visual culture and exercise conscious expression through the creation of high-quality films.
