Volunteer support for the organization's activities is a key responsibility of LIFT membership. All LIFT members who wish to access equipment and facility rentals are required to volunteer in support of the organization. Associate members accessing equipment are required to volunteer for eight (8) hours annually per membership year; full members must contribute sixteen (16) hours anually per membership year.

Volunteer work can consist of work in the LIFT office, at LIFT events, on LIFT projects, service on committees, the board of directors and activities designated as volunteer service by the Membership and Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer hours not used in a membership year are carried over to the following membership year (as of 2009), members can bank hours for when you need them.

Membership related volunteer hours can be bought out at $10.00/hour for those members unable to or opting not to volunteer.
